Vegetables

field: greenhouses:

Luna Bleu is a certified organic vegetable farm. What does this mean? We do not use synthetic fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, or pesticides. We strive to maintain healthy soil on the farm. Soil is the foundation for healthy plants, animals, and people. We maintain our fertility through crop rotation, cover cropping, manure applications, compost, and a variety of other ecological approaches to fertility management. Our farm works as an intricate and well managed system and our animals play an integral role in providing fertility to our land. We cultivate between 5-7 acres each season and have 6 greenhouses that are used throughout the harvest season and in the fall and winter for season extension. In the spring and late summer we focus on greens such as spinach, chard, and lettuce. We also have herbs and garlic scapes. In mid summer we have lots of summer squash, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, beets, beans, carrots, melons, and many other crops. The late summer brings field tomatoes, broccoli, onions, tomatillos, more root crops such as carrots and beets, and more. Our fall and winter crops include winter squash which we cure and store, carrots, beets, parsnips, radishes, cabbage, and spinach and mesclun, which we grow into cold temperatures in our greenhouses. All of these crops are available through our Harvest Season CSA or Winter CSA and Farmers Markets. (see Our CSA).
